WORKSHOP

In this workshop, we’ll dive into the inner workings of music production. Together we’ll work on your tracks and share ideas in a practical way. My goal is to create an environment where everyone feels comfortable enough to let their creativity run wild. Ideally, this will lead to synergies and collaborations among the participants.

I will help you with the technical basics like recording, sampling, mixing and mastering. We’ll also reflect on our workflow and discuss how to make bold decisions and avoid overthinking. Together, we will explore why, when it comes to arranging, sometimes less is more, and which digital and analogue tools can help you develop a distinctive sound. Furthermore, I will share my insights into the music business, covering everything from dealing with labels to copyright law and music distribution.

By the end of the week, you’ll not only come away with a finished piece of music that you identify with 100 percent, but also with new inspiration and a clear vision of your own artistic journey.

BIOGRAPHY

Johannes Hilpold, aka Fid Mella, played a key role in shaping the sound of Vienna's hip-hop scene. His collaborations with Monobrother, Kamp, Crack Ignaz and Brenk Sinatra display his playful approach and willingness to experiment. As a co-founder of the independent label Hector Macello he also has a deep understanding of the music business.
